Some photos from a Dani & Meisha’s (who planned their wedding from the US) beautiful wedding at Wilton Castle.
Wilton Castle is a real hidden gem in the heart of Co. Wexford.
It dates back to 1274, when the area saw its first fortified tower, and has had a rich and exciting history since, including one of Ireland’s last pistol duels.
But its most dramatic event took place in 1923, when it was burnt down by arsonists.
It could have been the end of the castle but thankfully its history continued when the land was sold off to Sean Windsor who grew up on a farm nearby and got the idea to restore the ruin. After years of works and careful restoration, the tower and two-storey wing have once again become a home, while the picturesque ruin next to it reminds us of the rich history of the place.
Meisha & Dani’s story
How did you meet originally and get together?
We worked in different departments, but in the same workplace. She was just across the way, but there was an inexplicable pull that drew me towards her. Our connection sparked when she commented on a Facebook post about a women’s soccer player retiring. I seized the opportunity to respond, and from that moment, our journey together began.
How did the proposal go, if there was one?
Our first international trip to Paris, France, was a dream come true.
We had booked a professional photographer to capture the magic, and since family wasn’t there, we thought it would be a perfect moment to propose during the photo shoot, ensuring we had pictures to share with them later.
I, Dani proposed along the Seine River with the Eiffel Tower as our backdrop, creating an unforgettable scene.
Later in the trip, we soared over the French countryside in a hot air balloon, where Meisha also proposed, making the journey even more special.
What made your venue “the one”?
Wilton Castle stood out as ‘the one’ for us due to its breathtaking view of the Irish countryside and its ability to accommodate both us and our guests comfortably.
The castle’s spaciousness allowed everyone to relax and be fully present for our special day.
The attached ruins, where our ceremony took place, added a touch of historical charm and significance.
Our reception, set just outside with a view overlooking the expansive land, provided a perfect backdrop for celebrating our marriage amidst the beauty of Ireland.
